2022 BMW M240I
Filed May 28, 2026
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate and expand Recall 23V-770 concerning defective steering gear assemblies to include 2022 BMW G42 vehicles. I currently own a 2022 BMW G42 with approximately 20,000 miles that is experiencing the same steering gear failure described in Recall 23V-770. My vehicle is now just outside of BMW’s factory warranty period, and I have been informed that the repair costs are…
2021 BMW M340I
Filed May 28, 2026
I am reporting a safety concern involving BMW vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, commonly found in model years 2019–2021. These vehicles utilize a variable-displacement engine oil pump containing an internal thermoplastic adjusting component responsible for regulating oil pressure. Field failures are increasingly being reported in which this internal component fractures, resulting in sudden loss or instability of engine oil pressure. The failure frequently occurs…
2023 BMW I4
Filed May 27, 2026
The dashboard turn signal indicators are blocked by the steering wheel unless I adjust the steering wheel to a very high position that makes driving unsafe. When the turn signals are on, there is no clicking noise like many cars have. I suggest that BMW update the vehicle software to allow the driver to adjust the location of the turn signal indicators within the digital dash display, or also include turn signal indicators in the heads-up display.
2021 BMW X3
Filed May 27, 2026
Filing regarding NHTSA Recalls 25V-636 and 26V-056. My 2021 BMW X3 M40i (VIN: [XXX] , built September 2020) contains the recall-affected starter part number ending in 997 — confirmed by a BMW Level 1 certified technician — not the non-recall part number ending in 505. BMW denied coverage based solely on manufacture date, with no consideration of the actual components installed. My vehicle displays an active fire risk. On April 30, 2026, my dashboard displayed Engine cannot be started, Starter…

2021 BMW X7
Filed May 27, 2026
A failed front differential on my 2021 BMW X7 M50i, which currently has approximately 59,000 miles. BMW of Wesley Chapel has diagnosed the front differential as failed and provided an estimated repair cost of approximately $11,500. The Service Manager Stevon Budhu has also submitted a goodwill request on our behalf to BMW I have two young daughters whom I transport daily, and safety is a key reason we selected the BMW X7 as our family vehicle. This type of drivetrain failure at this mileage…
2021 BMW X7
Filed May 26, 2026
The left-side 3rd-row seat on my 2021 BMW X7 is stuck upright and won't fold down to open up cargo space. You can hear the motor trying to work, but the physical latch inside the seat gets completely stuck and won't release. The seat mechanism is available for inspection. This is a major safety hazard because the seat latch is failing. If the seat cannot lock or unlock properly, the structural integrity is compromised. In a crash or under hard braking, the seat back could collapse forward and…
2021 BMW X5
Filed May 26, 2026
The vehicle's HVAC system failed due to a leaking air conditioning evaporator core. This single component handles both cabin cooling and the windshield defrost/defog function, so its failure compromises a safety-critical visibility system in addition to climate control. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The vehicle is operated primarily in Florida, where ambient temperatures regularly exceed 95°F and interior cabin temperatures without functioning AC…
2019 BMW X3
Filed May 26, 2026
While driving our BMW 2019 X3 on the highway, other drivers honked to get my attention that our vehicle's rear hatch was partially open. When we came to a stop light, I had my son riding in the passenger seat press the hatch button on the key fob to close the hatch. Instead this fully opened the back hatch. We continued pressing the fob button in an attempt to get the hatch to close without having to exit the vehicle. Rather than exit the vechicle in the middle of the roadway, we drove…
