BMW M440i xDrive

BMW dealer noted clunk on accel at 57,152 miles on RO #224018 under engine mounts. Dealer quoted $3,463.38 for engine mounts. I declined repair. Clunk on acceleration is still present at 60,700 miles. Same symptom as BMW Service Bulletin SIB 27-02-20 for 4 Series Drive jerking/shuddering from transfer case. I am seeing a lot of concerns regarding the seatbelt extenders, the buckle end pretensioner, seat wiring harness and the yellow box connectors that are where the main power and air bag SRS connections sit under the drivers seat. The seat harnesses are catching in the sliding track mechanism during forward and backward adjustments, isn't that a manufacturer error as the harnesses are only kept in place by plastic routing clips, which may or may not be there. Both the driver and passenger seatbelts have been replaced due to wear and shredding. Dealership has told us it was caused by the seatbelt extender “becoming delaminated” in both cases. This seems like a design flaw given the age and relatively low mileage (30,800). The more severe damage in the photograph is the driver’s side. The other is the passenger side that we proactively had replaced while the vehicle is still under its new vehicle warranty.

The contact owns a 2025 BMW M440I. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at speeds under 20 MPH, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the steering column. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the tie rod assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,500.

The car basically blew up on the highway at rush hour. BMW knows of this issue with this model and has some of their other models under a recall for this very thing. I am complaining about my new $ 79,000 BMW 440i that I just took possession of. I found out that the speedometer doesn't really tell you how fast you are driving. In SD the max speed on our interstate is 80mph. However, in my new car when the speedometer says you are going 80mph you are really only going 76mph.
