BMW X3

At a stoplight in Huntsville, TX, on Oct. 14, 2026, car died. No yellow lights, no warning of any kind. Policeman rerouted traffic, got a tow truck and drove us a Firestone outlet, where problem was diagnosed as a dead battery. Car has only 27,600 miles on it. Battery is OEM. Car has been garaged, beautifully maintained, driven only by a retired female school teacher. Internet has numerous other complaints about similar experiences with his car. No recalls are listed.

The turbocharger seal failed at 56024 miles. This is a common problem that BMW and BMW repair facilities are well aware of, but classify as a quality defect. Turbocharger failure causes excessive pollution, as well as damage to additional engine components if not fixed; and can pose a safety risk. I caught the issue early before warning lights appeared. I have a 2022 X3 M40i and the negative battery terminal on the 48v battery was not connected properly to the battery and had welded itself to the terminal causing drivetrain errors, start stop issues and low voltage errors. The cable could of caught fire and burned my house and car down.

My 2022 BMW X3 xDrive30i, VIN [XXX], is subject to NHTSA recall 26V-438 involving a starter that may overheat and cause a fire. I have contacted BMW of San Rafael a few times over the past three months to arrange the recall repair. There is a fire risk and an associated recall 26V438 for my BMW X3. I took it in for repair on 8/31/2026. They did not have the part to fix the recall. Due to the fire risk, I need them to remedy this ASAP. They continue to say I have to wait for the part availability.

Car would not start, diagnosed that the Cam shaft sensor was not showing a signal. Discovered BMW had a Vanos recall – (Campaign 23V-707) Contacted BMW of North Canton for recall.
