I recently purchased a 2021 Toyota Highlander Platinum. Within a few weeks from purchase, the transmission started making a whining noise. Upon further research, it was discovered that Toyota has been installing the UA80=F transmission in their vehicles, knowing full well that there are serious issues with this particular transmission. But yet they continued using this transmission. Someone needs to address this issue and hold their feet to the fire.

My 2026 Toyota Tundra Limited I-Force has 12k miles. On numerous occasions when accelerating from a near-stop, I press the gas pedal and get ZERO response. I have had several intermittent occasions over the past 3-4 years where the brakes do not stop the vehicle when depressed. I can feel something through the brakes pedal, but cannot explain what it is. So far, I have been able to avoid any accidents, but the infrequency makes it impossible to determine if it is going to happen.

Recall was issued a year ago on my engine and toyota has yet to do anything about the recall. There is also a second recall for ym tailights , this has been over a year since the recall was issued. First they told me i was to get a new engine in june of 2026. Then in may of 2026 they told me a software test will be completed first to determine if my truck needs a engine. The rear fixed panoramic roof glass panel spontaneously shattered while driving on the highway at 70 mph with no external impact or road debris present. The shattering sounded like a gunshot.
