Failing oil pressure sensor which “blinds” the driver of the engines true oil levels. It occasionally causes the car to go into “limp” mode or stall which could cause unnecessary and unreasonable traffic safety hazards. This is a well known and documented critical safety defect by Genesis as they’ve already executed a recall for the issue in their home country / market of South Korea.

The vehicle's horn has failed 3 times and has been replaced twice. We have opened an incident with Genesis of America to escalate this concern.

Update to NHTSA complaint #11629630: The accident resulted in my vehicle being declared a total loss. Here is what happened the morning of the accident. On October 19, 2026 at approximately 8:40 AM, I was behind a Lexus SUV at a stop sign and I went to put on my eyeglasses. When I released the brake to accelerate forward the car stopped and put on the emergency brakes twice before I could finally accelerate. The car released an alarming alert on the dashboard saying “emergency braking.” This was dangerous considering there was a car directly behind me and I had my 20 month old in a car seat on the back seat.

The contact owns a 2018 Genesis G80. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V664000 (Seats); however, the parts to complete the recall repair were unavailable. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed the parts were unavailable to perform the recall repair.

When negotiating a curve, the steering wheel sticks and does not return to center without the driver forcing the wheel back to the required direction. Instead of a smooth and consistent feeling when turning the wheel, the steering wheel feels locked until the driver's force breaks the steering wheel free. In addition, the steering wheel makes a faint but noticeable grinding noise when turned in either direction. No warning lights illuminate.

The fuel pump was no longer connected, and the engine had a crack, with oil leaking, without an engine light coming on until the very end. Loss of steering control and inability to accelerate.
