My 2017 Genesis G90 received Safety Recall 018G (NHTSA 24V-107) on December 31, 2024, addressing a starter-solenoid electrical short/fire risk. Around June 7, 2026, I noticed an unusual odor and found the engine-room junction/fuse box extremely hot, with visible heat damage. The contact owns a 2017 Genesis G90. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary, the contact became aware of smoke coming from the driver’s side of the engine. While stopped at a red light, the vehicle was smoking with an oil-burning odor. Additionally, the contact stated that the air bag module light was illuminated. In June 2026, after warranty repairs were performed on the vehicle's navigation/display system, a new safety-related problem occurred. At approximately 137,508 miles, the right side turbocharger oil feed pipe failed. I experienced an engine oil leak, a strong burning oil smell, smoke from the engine compartment, engine light on, lost of power and oil leaking onto hot engine components. About every 45 days the car will not turn off. Safety items like the rear view camera will not work. The main viewing screen will go dead. I called the dealership. They said this was a common problem with my car. The only fix is to attempt a full system reboot with a paper clip. This has now happened three times to me. Once the car started without me pushing the start button. Twice while I was driving.
