Genesis G80

Failing oil pressure sensor which “blinds” the driver of the engines true oil levels. It occasionally causes the car to go into “limp” mode or stall which could cause unnecessary and unreasonable traffic safety hazards. This is a well known and documented critical safety defect by Genesis as they’ve already executed a recall for the issue in their home country / market of South Korea.

When negotiating a curve, the steering wheel sticks and does not return to center without the driver forcing the wheel back to the required direction. Instead of a smooth and consistent feeling when turning the wheel, the steering wheel feels locked until the driver's force breaks the steering wheel free. In addition, the steering wheel makes a faint but noticeable grinding noise when turned in either direction. No warning lights illuminate.

The contact owns a 2018 Genesis G80. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V664000 (Seats); however, the parts to complete the recall repair were unavailable. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed the parts were unavailable to perform the recall repair.

I am reporting a recurring transmission/drivetrain problem that I believe may warrant investigation for a potential safety defect. Beginning in approximately May 2026, my vehicle developed a pronounced hard bump/jerk and shudder during transmission operation. The problem initially occurred primarily in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears and became more noticeable after the vehicle warmed up. As I am driving and I make a turn, the wheel actually locks and I cannot steer. It was very frightening. At first I thought it was the lane change device, but I made sure that was off, and it happened twice more. I had the car towed to the Napleton Hyundai dealership in Lake park, FL and they said the entire steering column needs to be replaced. They quoted over $10,000 for the repair. THe car is a 2017 Genesis G80 with 23,000 original miles. THere were no warning lamps or other symptoms.

This vehicle experienced an engine overheating failure while driving, five days after a cooling-system repair (radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs) had been completed at the dealership. My car was diagnosed with burnt wiring causing the Complete front wiring harness needing replaced. The Company Genesis don’t want to repair/fix the problem or the Warranty company. The Service Manager Mr. Daryl has said this is a manufacturing defect issue. They have repaired several on this particular vehicle and somebody should cover it. If anything happens to me, I am suing or my Family will. Burnt wiring can cause a fire.

After 2 hours on the road August 1, 2026 (from [XXX] to [XXX]), in 119-degree heat, the AC stopped blowing cold air out of the dash vents. There was cold air coming out of the rear-seat vent. The vehicle became unbearably hot. (Took my wife 2 days to recover from heat exhaustion.) The AC started working properly after the car sat for a few days in [XXX]. My 2017 Genesis G80 3.8L, VIN [XXX], has approximately 43,840 miles and intermittently slips or shifts improperly between approximately third and fifth gears while driving and causes harsh jolts forward.
