NHTSA: 14V338 Date Issued: 2014-06-18 Transmission shifter cable detach from Transmission. Vehicle will not change gears. Contacted GM 10/22/26 9:52am est spoke with Terran, GM states no details of any repairs, shows inspected 07/15/2014, unable to assist with repairs due to outside of timeframe. My research shows no timeframe or milage limits for this specific recall. GM has done no repairs for this recall.

The vehicle has approximately 40,000 miles. The thermostat and/or coolant temperature sensor malfunctioned, causing the warning message “Steering Assist Is Reduced, Drive With Care” to appear. This condition raises a safety concern because the malfunction affects or appears to affect the vehicle’s steering-assist system and could make the vehicle more difficult to safely control. I believe this issue warrants investigation by NHTSA and consideration for a safety recall.

The contact owns a 2019 Cadillac XTS. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn, and the contact pulled over to the side of the road. Upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the power steering operated as intended. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V086000 (Steering). The failure mileage was 109,133.

I noticed a water sloshing sound behind the dash when first starting out for about a month.
