My independent Subaru-certified mechanic diagnosed code 72 on the passenger airbag circuit and referred me to Don K Subaru in Whitefish, noting that the master technician there had trained him on the recall procedure. Was notified by the dealer upon completion of an oil change, on May 20, 2026, that the driver side front daytime LED running light was not functioning. The light was not on. I am a faithful user of either turning on my headlights in the absence of DRL or using the factory DRL on the vehicle. The contact owns a 2011 Subaru Outback. The contact stated that while driving 5 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into a fence and a bystander. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact was injured but medical attention was not needed. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The multimedia device/infotainment system (Harman-Kardon) which controls the radio, navigation maps, back-up camera, etc, is again showing issues with the screen, delamination, which causes the radio channels to change irradically, causing distraction and confusion when driving. The contact stated that upon starting the engine, the power steering assist failed to operate, and the power steering, EyeSight, and various other warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact applied excessive force to steer the vehicle until normal operation resumed. While driving on I-5 at about 70 mph, I made a normal upshift from 5th to 6th gear in my 6-speed manual transmission.
