The contact owns a 2023 Ram ProMaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering suddenly failed, causing the steering wheel to jerk unexpectedly and pull out of the contact's grip. No warning lights illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure; however, the vehicle was not taken to the dealer, diagnosed, or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

While at the dealership service center, the service electronic power steering warning light illuminated on the dash and when driven the steering wheel began snapping back, making driving very difficult. The garage informed us that the van is considered unsafe/undriveable until fixed due to the high risk of causing an accident. Upon inspection by the service center, they stated that the steering pump was filled with water from an unknown source and that the harnesses were completely corroded.…

The collision warning system fails to work around 90% of the time. This has been reported to the dealer with no resolution. This is a known problem issue on all Promaster vans and Stellantis refuses to fix the software.

Vehicle wheel would suddenly jerk when driving. Video of steering wheel doing this was taken while parked. The suddenness of this created immediate dangers to the driver and any around due to the unpredictability of the steering. Vehicle was brought to a dealer/service center where they diagnosed a corroded wire harness that required the entire steering rack to be replaced. There were no warnings or dash lights on. The Electronic Power Steering (and EPS Module) failed, making it incredibly hard to steer especially at low speeds. Dealer confirmed that the power steering rack has failed. All power steering features and lights came on, rendering the vehicle inoperable while driving doen the road. This is a serious safety concern.

2016 RAM PROMASTER

The contact owns a 2016 Ram ProMaster 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 12 MPH, the windshield wipers became inoperable. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

Intermittent 'Service Power Steering' and LaneSense warnings first appeared in May 2026. Repair shop found Diagnostic trouble code C1593-49 - Steering torque sensor circuit/internal electronic failure. 2023 RAM PROMASTER

Power steering electrical connector(s) completely corroded from moisture intrusion, while driving ps shut down and warning light flashed. Had to suddenly correct in a corner without ps, almost had an accident. It is available for inspection, as I cannot afford to fix this yet. Dealer inspected problem, ps rack and harness need replacement at a cost of appr. CAD $4000-5000. Have not contacted manufacturer yet, but will now. Vehicle warranty just expired and has only 26 k km on it.
