My mom and I were in her car brand new Mercedes adaptive cruise was on the car started to act up with all the warning lights again, which shut all safety systems down air back seatbelts, adaptive cruise, Tronics and the engine wall between 18 wheeler and the freeway wall slammed the vehicle into the freeway hall causing about $5000 worth of damage tires and wheels. Both on the left side had to be towed is horribly scary on another incident about three weeks prior. The gas pedal broke while she was getting off the freeway and braking trying to brake with part cars during rush-hour. The car is going and braking at the same time she had to go up on the curb come to find out the gas pedal broke off and lunged hinged itself between the brake and the gas pedal so when she was trying to break, the car was accelerating at the same time scared her to death. She’s almost [XXX]. She bought this car and I almost killed her twice Not to mention all the issues we’ve had going into the shop six weeks at a time three different dealerships we’ve only have the car in our possession maybe two months out of the eight months they’ve done nothing and they can’t fix it. Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the electronic ignition switch (“EIS”) control unit does not correspond to current production specifications. This OTA software update for the 12-V EIS will improve battery management and enhance the robustness of the vehicle’s electrical system. MBUSA will conduct an OTA service campaign. Remote software updates are automatically downloaded and installed in the customer’s vehicle free of charge and do not require a dealer visit.

Complaint Crackling and cracking noise from the outer wheel on the front axle when cornering Cause The noise is generated by a micromovement on the contact surface between the rim and the brake disk (wheel bolt group) and may be intensified by potential soiling. The more lightweight rim (AMG forged rim) transmits the noise louder; in the case of cast rims, the noise is generally not perceptible. This is not a technical defect, but rather a complaint concerning comfort. Safe operation of the vehicle is ensured at all times. Remedy Important note: The operations described below do not represent a permanent remedy in every case. The noise may reoccur again after an indefinite period of time; sanding the rims with abrasive media multiple times is not permissible. Only cleaning using the Hazet tool 4960-160 (recommendation) can be performed without any concerns each time the wheel is changed or if the complaint reoccurs. Replacing the parts (rim, wheel bolts, wheel bearings, wheel hub, brake disk) is not expedient in the event of this complaint. Clean the components of the wheel bolt connection according to the WIS instructions Sand down the rim and brake disk bowl by performing the following steps: • Manually sand rim (old design only) in area of water drain bores (Figure 1; item A), approx. 1.5 cm left and right of water drain bore (Figure 2) Note: Use abrasive paper with grit size 80. The grooving in this area should no longer be visible (sand down approx. 0.1-0.2mm) • Also sand brake disk bowl using emery cloth or abrasive paper with a grain size of 120 • For vehicles equipped with the AMG ceramic brake system (B07), abrasive paper may not be used for cleaning on the brake disk side Note: Do not use any cleaning agent when cleaning on the rim side. Cleaning using abrasive paper with a grain size of 80 will suffice. Do not apply any grease, lubricant or paste after cleaning The brake disk bowl should be bare metal in the area of the imprints made by the hole (Figure 3)

Issue Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the Electronic Ignition Lock control unit coding does not correspond to current series production configuration. As a result, battery management could be affected and cause low battery voltage. A 12V battery message may appear in the instrument cluster after the vehicle has been dormant for an extended period of time. Remedy MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will SCN code the Electronic Ignition Lock control unit. The new SCN coding improves battery management, improving the efficiency of the 12V electrical system.

Complaint The result from the XENTRY battery test does not match the current state of the battery. Cause The XENTRY battery tester uses the stored on-board electrical system data in the SAM module to access the health of the 12 volt battery. The XENTRY battery test may not take into account a single discharge event because the SAM or EZS cannot record the data if the battery is discharged. Note: A discharged battery does not necessarily need to be replaced. A discharged battery may be recovered with no permanent damage. Remedy 1) If the battery is discharged, charge the battery. Review WS54.00-P-0037B for minimum charger specifications. • Note the amperage difference between trickle (maintainer) chargers of at least 16A and quick chargers of at least 30A. • Review AP54.10-P-5449U. Note when battery is sufficiently charged the charger current is less 5A. 2) While charging the battery, analyze the vehicle data to determine root cause of discharge using the following data points: • NOTE: For guidance on use of the on-board electrical data please review the AKUBIS video titled New onboard electrical system diagnosis shown on BR 166. The video can be accessed through WIS by following the path WSM--> content by model series --> passenger cars --> ML-Class --> Model 166 --> group 54 --> New onboard electrical system diagnosis. • Refer to the March 2023 PCTT for the video walkthrough of analysis as well as the attachment of the slides to this Li. • Review GF54.10-P-1012A regarding what can cause deep discharge protection to not end a battery draw. • Review SI54.10-P-0024A for proper maintenance of the vehicle. For Star 2 vehicles: -Review FSAM on-board electrical data conspicuous records • NOTE: This data can be found via FSAM N10/6 -> Actual Values -> On-board electrical system -> On-board electrical system data For Star 3 vehicles: -Review N73/3 EZS on-board electrical data conspicuous records • NOTE: This data can be found via EZS N73/3 -> Actual Values -> On-board electrical system -> On-board electrical system data 3) Determine if root cause is due to: • vehicle technical issue? • customer behavior? NOTE: Recommend using battery analysis sheet found in XiW -> Local Contents -> Diagnostic info -> Battery Discharge Worksheet 4) If battery still does not accept charge AND the vehicle does not fall within the parameters of improper maintenance, then create a TIPS case. *IMPORTANT* - If the improper maintenance/use is found during diagnosis, DO NOT open a TIPS case. If a TIPS case is opened, it will be marked 1 star and directed to your assigned FSE for review. TIPS Case must include with the case: • Amperage setting of charger and time battery was on charger • XENTRY Battery Tester results • Voltage of battery taken with multimeter: Do not connect charger while taking measurements • N10/6 FSAM, (N73 or N73/3) and (N73*1 or N73/3*1) • Workshop analysis of conspicuous data • Root cause analysis for battery discharge based on the above documents (technical, customer, etc.) • NOTE: For expedited results when creating a case write customer complaint as XENTRY Battery Tester implausible. 

Issue Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the High Voltage Battery (“HVB”) AC charger software does not correspond to current production specifications. As a consequence, a HVB MIL may illuminate during charging due to fluctuations in power consumption of the charging socket actuator. Remedy  MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the HVB AC Charger Software.

Complaint Cracking/clicking noise from underbody when driving slowly (around curves); see attachment. Cause Potential causes: • Assembly of the underfloor paneling with unloaded body (results in tension after compression of vehicle in K0- design level) • Relative movement between front and rear engine compartment lining • Torque loss of the screw connection • Accumulation of stones and dirt Remedy Changes Made: • Screw connection in K0-design level (vehicle compressed - on ground at ride height) and taking into account the correct screw sequence • Additional screw connection points (minimization of relative movement) • Use of rivet nuts and screws with a larger diameter • Integration of spacer rings (reduction of accumulation of stones and dirt) Note: In order to rule out that other component parts may be responsible for the noise, remove the underfloor paneling first. If the noise complaint is NOT present after removal, proceed with underfloor paneling rework. Underfloor paneling rework 1. Order after-sales kit with item number A2326207003 for the rework. 2. After receiving the after-sales kit (A2326207003), check the contents: 22 screws (A0109902604) / 14 rivet nuts (A0009902349) / 4 spacer washers (A2326207203). If the content is complete, start rework in the next step. 3. Disassemble underfloor paneling. If front and rear engine compartment lining are bonded to one another, order new parts (A2326201101, A2326268900). 4. Clean underfloor paneling and integral carrier. Failure to clean the parts can lead to noise once re-assembled. 5. Mark four additional screw connection points on the front engine compartment lining (see attachment 1). See appendix 2 for dimensions. 6. Drill holes with d=9 mm on the markings. 7. Screw front and rear engine compartment lining together using the screw connection points already available (see attachment 3). Both linings are therefore aligned to one another. Important: Pay attention to alignment of the elongated holes on the external edges. 8. Drill into the rear engine compartment lining using the four additional holes with d=9 mm (see attachment 4). 9. Disassemble front and rear engine compartment lining. 10. Drill out three existing rivet nuts with d=9 mm (see attachment 5). 11. Insert seven new rivet nuts (A0009902349) (see attachment 6). 12. Drill out seven existing rivet nuts in the integral carrier with d=9 mm (see attachment 7). Caution: Do not damage integral carrier. 13. Remove remaining rivets that have fallen off from the integral carrier using a magnetic tube (see attachment 8). 14. Insert new rivet nuts (A0009902349) in the integral carrier (see attachment 9). 15. Fix four spacer rings (A2326207203) in place using bonding points between underfloor paneling and integral carrier (for position, see attachment 10 and attachment 11). Caution: No adhesive can be applied to the contact areas (risk of torque loss). 16. Install underfloor paneling on vehicle with 14 Nm (observe screw sequence in attachment 12). Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, there is a new software release for the MBUX Infotainment system. An OTA update will enhance both functionality and entertainment features. The update introduces Dolby Atmos support for in-car apps, improvements to the MBUX calendar app, and the launch of MBUX SOUND DRIVE. To deliver a better music streaming experience, new apps will be installed and existing integrations with online streaming providers will be removed. Each provider will now require a separate app, which will be installed during the update. MBUSA will conduct an OTA service campaign. As a result, the battery Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate when no system fault occurs. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the Battery Management System control unit software.

The charging system software will be updated to stabilize the charging function of the vehicle. MBUSA will conduct an OTA service campaign. Remote software updates are automatically downloaded and installed in the customer’s vehicle free of charge and do not require a dealer visit.

Issue Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the fuel system control unit (FSCU) software may not correspond to the current series production configuration. As a result, on-board diagnostic requirements may not be met. Remedy MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the FSCU software on the affected vehicles.
