Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 SUV

When entering the vehicle, I have to raise my right hand and clear the armrest area to place the handbag onto the passenger side. As the result, the hand tended to hit the edge of protruded sunroof center console, resulting in repeated laceration to the hand. Three incidents had occurred over the three months I owned the vehicle so far.

1. March 11th: First Incident was when crossing a railroad crossing in [XXX] ~2:00pm the car suddenly braked and seatbelts tightened very strongly and immediately stopped, Automatic braking was engaged. While driving down the highway late at night, with no other cars around, the panoramic sunroof exploded, throwing shattered glass everywhere. The window was not hit by an object and had no previous damage. Shattered flying glass while moving at highway speeds caused a momentary loss of control.

While driving on a road with no other vehicles around, the car abruptly braked for no reason. The car was 5 days old. It is currently in the service department.

While driving at freeway speed, the panoramic sunroof on my 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 suddenly shattered without any impact, debris, or warning. Glass fell into the vehicle. This was a serious safety hazard. Mercedes-Benz denied warranty coverage. An independent insurance adjuster inspected the vehicle and determined the cause was defective glass, not external damage. This appears to be a manufacturing defect involving spontaneous sunroof shattering.
