While I was driving the vehicle, the front lower left/driver's side control arm broke in half and caused me to lose control of the vehicle.

The valve over eventually leaks oil that drips down on to the alternator. This cause the electrical system to fail, the battery and brake lights come on. Then slowly all lights come on as battery shuts down. This is a known issue with this engine. This happened to me yesterday while driving at night leaving the car unable to drive.
