GMC Sierra 1500

Recall n242490120 was corrected on 6/10/25. Grill has since blown off while driving ,couldn’t retrieve it, and caused a chip on my windshield. Recall was for front grille deflector. Dear Learship that repaired it said they were only authorized once to repair and it would be out of pocket expense to repair again.

Severe Engine Knock

Upper grille deflector broke off without impact at highway speed.

The engine was part of the initial recall for the L87 GM motor and failed its inspection. Ultimately the engine had to be replaced. Since, the engine was replaced everything was fine till recently it starting to make a knocking noise and was immediately taken to a GM dealership for diagnosis. Currently, waiting for final decision on the fix, but preliminary the dealership stating its the lifters or camshaft.

Engine locked up while driving down the road at highway speeds. Lost all power and had to pull to shoulder of road. Was towed to dealership and confirmed engine locked up and covered under special recall. Was looked at a few months back and passed the recall test on engine. No lights or signs of engine failure before failure.

The engine locked up and stalled out while driving. GM replaced engine but still experiencing issues. Dealer has admitted that they will likely recall my model year since it is an ongoing and same issues as recalled trucks. I have a vehicle I am not confident in nor safe it since it stalled while driving.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse(R), the rear-view camera froze and occasionally glitched. The failure was a recurring failure. The contact associated the failure with Technical Service Bulletin: PIT6369B. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The 6-speed automatic transmission (6L80) developed a severe shudder during normal driving. A service center diagnosed the problem as torque converter clutch failure; the torque converter sheds metal debris through the transmission, so the transmission now requires a full rebuild quoted at approximately $6,000. My 2021 GMC 1500 Sierra has the 6.2L motor that has significant known issues with catastrophic engine failure involving the camshaft and lifters. The engine in my truck has suffered the same failure but for some reason my VIN is not included in the recall of nearly 600,000 GMC trucks.
