Ford Edge

I just bought this used ford edge for my high school daughter. I took it to two different mechanics. Both indicated misfiring happening which means need a new engine. Mechanics said this is widely known issue. Why can dealers sell these cars with a widely known defect. This will create undue financial hardship to me and my family. My stress and anxiety are terrible on this issue.

When accelerating at low speeds the transmission bucks and/or surges so that the car stutters. This is currently happening, two mechanics have checked and see no misfiring and there is no warning light showing but there is clearly some sort of issue with the transmission. Torque Converter failed Car jerks at low speeds. Car was unsafe to drive, vehicle had trouble accelerating when needed. Ford Garage inspected vehicle and diagnosed the problem. There was no warning lamps or messages.

The brakes are hard to mash and spongey and it has a hissing kind of sound I believe it is a brake booster. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The Torgue converted failed and is throwing metal into the transmission.

Recently had the torque converter replaced for shuddering/shifting weird. Although there is no more shuddering, the car still does not seem to be shifting correctly. It hesitates between shifting gears and will then accelerate quickly. It was seen at the shop again today and they could not find any issues with it although I was told it will likely do it again for me and to let them know. There have not been an indicator lights.

My torque converter is malfunctioning, there are no warning lights, and my car only started driving differently very recently in the past couple of weeks. According to the Ford mechanic my car has been throwing error codes since early May. The dealership was able to confirm that this happens, and that my torque converter needs to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the transmission needed additional diagnostic tests by the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired.
