TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 PONTIAC TRANS SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND HE WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS HOME. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 205,000.

CATASTROPHIC SUB FRAME FAILURE. AFTER 16 YEARS OF SALTED NE OHIO ROADS THE VAN'S FRONT SUB FRAME COLLAPSED AND MADE THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT WOULD JOLT FROM LANE TO LANE WHILE SHIFTING, AND HAD LOST MOST STEERING CONTROL. MECHANICS REPLACED OVER $700 OF PARTS TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUE UNTIL A FRIEND FOUND THE REAL CULPRIT OF THE CLUNKING AND LOST STEERING. PLEASE BE VERY WARY OF GM PRODUCTS IN THE RUST BELT. 1991 CHEVY LUMINA APV,WHILE DRIVING OVER NOT SO SMOOTH WISCONSIN STREETS THE FRAME RETAINER ROTTED OFF OF THE MOUNTING BOLT CAUSING THE FRAME RAIL TO DROP DOWN OVER 4 INCHES CAUSING POOR STEERING CONTROL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 CHEVROLET LUMINA APV. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. I OWN TWO VERY SIMILAR GM MADE VANS, A 1996 OLDSMOBILE SILHOUETTE, AND A 1994 CHEVROLET LUMINA APV VAN. BOTH HAD SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO THE REAR BRAKE LINE BURSTING, IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE! BOTH HAD CURRENT INSPECTIONS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE LINES ON BOTH VANS. RECALLS 94V027 AND 94V015 DO NOT COVER MY VAN, BUT DESCRIBE THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING EXACTLY. SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VAN IN 1995 THE REAR SEATBELTS HAVE LOCKED UP AT THE ODDEST TIMES. ALL OF THE BACK SEAT BELTS (NOT JUST THE ONES DESCRIBED IN 94V027) LOCK UP AT TIMES AND WILL USUALLY UNLOCK WITH A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING.
