The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the seat belt and air bag warning lights illuminated while the driver’s and passenger’s seats were occupied. The contact stated that the passenger’s air bag light was off. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V244000 (Air Bags); as the cause for the failure; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer and the dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.

Rear suspension cross member has virtually rusted through where the trailing arm attaches. If the cross member actually separates, the rear wheel will ride largely free and the driver will likely lose control of the vehicle. While slowing down on the expressway, I could feel the movement in the rear end of my vehicle. Upon inspection, I found the rusted cross member and the significant play in what should not have been moving.

The DCU (Display Control Unit) no longer works, so hands-free on steering wheel is disabled because of this. Iowa law requires hands-free only in vehicles. This is a safety issue because of this. Nissan wants to charge thousands of dollars to repair. This is a known defect in some Nissan vehicles.

I purchased the car in June 2025 and the sunroof exploded while I was driving down the highway in Dec. 2025. The explosion scared me, the driver.
