The front subframe crossmember on my vehicle is severely rusted out. There is currently a hole measuring about 2x1. At freeway speeds in the heat the vehicle intermittently and suddenly flashes yellow check engine light and vehicle shakes as it loses most of the engine power, forcing a slow or stop to limp it off the highway. No warnings no noises no change in emissions noted. Calls to dealerships and have been told they don't know what it is and haven't heard of any issues.

The contact was informed that there would be a callback to schedule the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The annual state safety inspection failed due to a severely rust corroded front Cross-Member. A corrosion hole developed right where the air conditioner condensate drain port is located right above it. Earlier manufacturing years of this same vehicle had a major recall for this exact same cause. Continued use without replacing the front Cross-Member could result in a loss of steering and a serious accident if lost at highway speeds.
